Challenge
People currently do not have sufficient control over their data, are unable to effectively manage their digital footprint, and lack visibility into their accounts, combined to the insufficiency of tools that prioritize privacy-focused features. This highlights the need to raise awareness about the unethical practices employed by companies to store and profit from user data.
Solution
Yorba was created as a secure online account management platform that assists users in monitoring, managing, and reducing their online accounts across logins, paid subscriptions, data breaches, and mailing lists. The design and development process was meticulously planned, focusing on using ethical technologies and design methodologies that prioritize trust. It is also supported by the Data Rights Protocol.
Building features from scratch required a careful and collaborative process. In a 14-day sprint cycle, features went through shaping up needs, user interviews, sketches, and wireframing. They were tested repeatedly until we were ready to proceed to UI. Once the UI and design system were ready, the development team implemented them. Listening to users has been the key factor in building and iterating features.
These features encompassed account import, insights and suggestions, goal setting, organization and deletion tools, profiles, data breach monitoring, and privacy grade categorization.
The Outcome
Yorba was successfully launched and it's currently attracting users and gaining traffic. This has been a pleasant surprise for both users and the tech industry.
